The Ahimsa Yoga logo, designed by Triesta Hall at Blu Art & Design in Orlando, Florida, includes concepts most important to me: Ahimsa, the moral prcecept of "non-harming," and the heart chakra symbol, the energy center opening us to lives of compassion.

KARMA YOGA: Doing unto others

If
I were in prison for any reason, I'd want someone to come teach yoga to me. Yoga, as I know it, unlocks the prison of the mind and body in profound ways, becoming the avenue to a changed life.

For this reason and some unexplainable ones, I have a passion for teaching the inmates in the Florida State prison system. I am teaching the men weekly now, using donated mats.

HOW TO HELP: If you have any desire to help this project with donated mats or via a monetary donation, please contact me via email or phone.

Sampoorna: "Yoga of Fullness"
"Sampoorna," yoga refers to the "yoga of fullness," as taught by my guru Shri Yogi Hari, who comes from the Sivananda lineage, and at Ahimsa Yoga , I also stress this full, well-rounded approach to  practice, delving into not only the physical breathing (pranayama) and postures (asanas), but also concentration, relaxation, meditation and the moral precepts passed down through the centuries by saints and sages.

Offering Thai Yoga Bodywork
Birthed in Vedic and Thai Buddhist culture, this ancient healing art uses assisted stretching and postures to open energetic channels, usher vitality and harmony to all the systems of the human being and provide deep meditative relaxation. Recipients stay fully clothed and no oils are used as they lay on a futon-style mat and have all the work done for them. This is also called assisted yoga therapy.

Call to book a private session.

Ahimsa means 'do no harm'

Fun crow variation

About me:

My yoga journey began more than 10 years ago with a Sivananda teacher in a YMCA building and has continued with the influence of many styles of yoga from various teachers.

My roots remain in the Sivananda lineage where devotion and service become as much a focus as doing pigeon or downward-facing dog. My yoga teacher training was at Yogi Hari's Ashram, a Yoga Alliance-approved residential school, where I lived with and studied under a great master of asana and Nada Yoga, the yoga of sound.

I also have begun studying Thai Bodywork, an ancient healing art from the Thai Buddhist tradition with Mukti (Michael Buck) of the Vedic Conservatory and hope to continue studies with him.

I feel honored and blessed to be on this path and intend to continue to work towards basking in the light shared by the divine masters.

See my schedule page for classes or call me or email. I am teaching in Davenport and Clermont now.

 We also come to you!

We also are able to provide yoga classes in your space such as a classroom, business office, home, community center, penal facility, assisted living facility or even outdoors.

What to bring to classes: Yoga mat (let me know if you need to borrow one); positive attitude!

Need to know: It's best to do yoga on an empty stomach, at least 2-3 hours after eating and to wear either loose comfortable modest clothes or tight-fitting spandex type clothing. Shorts are also fine. While they are ok, be aware that very baggy t-shirts may sometimes get in the way in inverted postures.

My Divine Inspiration:

Master Sivananda, founder of the Divine Life Society, who taught us to Love, Serve, Give, Purify, Meditate, Realize:

"Do not brood over your past mistakes and failures, as this will only fill your mind with grief, regret and depression. Do not repeat them in the future.”
